Downtown Austin is undervalued in 2025 (green line) if the pandemic never happened and we stayed on the same trajectory as the prior decade (blue line). What’s the issue now? Affordability. Mortgage rates and monthly payments have outpaced income.

$20B in infrastructure projects are underway - I-35 expansion through the heart of downtown, expanded airport, a redeveloped convention center, and a public light rail system. Most of which is expected to be complete within 7 years, in 2033.
Shiner’s Saloon is set for demolition - at the corner of W 5th & Congress, a site plan with the city was recently approved. There have been plans for redevelopment on this lot in the past, though no updates. The northern condos at The Austonian will be most affected.
The autonomous vehicle Waymo is safer than you think - NY Times article written by a neurosurgeon, Waymo’s were involved in 91% fewer serious crashes. If this were a medical trial, it would be unethical to continue giving the placebo; in this case, human drivers.
